GOOGLE SUMMIT 2019

Appurity @ Google Summit 2019

02 June 2019

Appurity attends an exclusive event

Appurity was one of 137 partners invited to attend this year’s Google Summit. Altogether, there were only 350 attendees hailing from more than 30 countries around the world.

The focus of this exclusive event was new developments in Android Enterprise technologies. This included advances in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and virtual reality (VR). Google also revealed the very latest information about Android Q (version 10).

“Google Protect verifies 50 billion apps every day. But this doesn’t negate the need for devices to be equipped with mobile threat prevention products, such as Lookout

Mobile Security Report

Google pointed out that in Gartner’s latest mobile security report, which evaluates various operating systems and devices, Android 9 receives strong ratings in 26 of 30 categories (including 12 out of 13 for corporate device management). Whereas iOS only received strong ratings in 18 categories. So, the message implied by Google is that Android is more secure than iOS, according to the report.

Read about the report on Google’s blog and watch Gartner analyst Patrick Hevesi discuss the findings in this video.

Stand-out facts and figures

According to Google:

  • 91% of enterprises use Android Enterprise for workforce mobility
  • There’s a deployment base of tens of thousands across the energy, retail, utilities and enterprise sectors
  • Google smartphones account for 35% of IoT/EoT
  • In 2018, all Android common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) were patched
  • Google Protect verifies 50 billion apps every day. But this doesn’t negate the need for devices to be equipped with mobile threat prevention products, such as Lookout
  • Android Enterprise’s market share in the enterprise sector is 75% (outside US).

Samsung and Android took the stage together to discuss their relationship which is becoming more closely aligned, unifying their messages.
